A mastermind director and auteur at 70 years old…20 years after the Mad Max Trilogy with Mel Gibson in the lead role that established him as star, he’s back again with Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiousa, Nicholas Hoult as Nux and Hugh Keays-Bryne as Immortan Joe.
An Australian film, screenwriter, producer and director with Greek ancestry born on March 3, 1945, he is best known for the Mad Max trilogy, which saw him make his first feature-length directorial debut for Mad Max based on a script written by George Miller and James McCausland. The film was independently produced by Kennedy Miller Productions, and became an international blockbuster success, both commercially and with the critics. Mad Max 2: The Road warrior followed in 1981 and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome in 1985.
He was involved in various film projects and even won an Academy award and nominations along the way. These include Happy Feet, which won him the Best Animated Feature in 2006 while Babe, which he co-wrote and co-produced was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. He wrote and directed the sequel Babe: Pig in the City in 1998. His film feature Lorenzo’s Oil was nominated for Best Original screenplay in 1992.
It was reported in film industry news outlets that he’s set to direct 4 more Mad Max films with Tom Hardy reprising his role as Max Rockatansky with the next film titled Mad Max: The Wasteland.
